Jennifer Henderson 3INF English 110.50 What do you do for fun?Do you read?Do you bowl?Do you watch movies?Do you like to hang out with your friends?Me, I love to sit at home in front of my computer and surf the web; but most importantly, I love to shop! This would explain why I have chosen online shopping as my topic, in addition to having a lot of experience with it, and also having a lot to share. What you will learn today from reading my paper is the pros and cons to shopping online, how to do so on a bargain, and what some of the experts have to say about it.I will also layout a few sites that happen to be some of my favorites and explain how easy it is for anyone to shop online. Online shopping became a habit of mine once I became a college student, and not because college students are lazy but because my school’s location does not offer a significant amount of good quality stores. The reason why I love shopping online so much is because of its convenience, you can practically do it from anywhere. As long as you have a computer and internet access, you can log onto any site and shop. Now, the one thing that I loathe is to take my time just to go shopping physically and the store has nothing in my size or nothing that interest me.Well, contrary to the previous notion, I do not have that problem while shopping online. You see, one thing that is great about shopping online is that you have the luxury of shopping from a warehouse which stores its stores’ entire inventory. Also, a lot of the merchandise that you will find online will not be sold in stores at all in most cases, so you really have a larger variety to choose from.Another incentive for shopping online would have to be the web specials!Notice that they are called “web specials” meaning you can only obtain these specials when shopping from the web. There are heaps of sales that take place online; for example, if you spend a certain amount of money you will gain free shipping, you can also receive a certain dollar amount off when you spend say seventy-five dollars or more, and the list goes on.Now, just thinking a little more about a few things that I do not like when it comes to physically shopping is that when you go to a mall, you are limited to the stores that at that particular mall and now you find yourself settling for anything or driving from mall to mall looking for the perfect outfit or shoes.Fortunately when it comes to shopping online, I do not have that problem. As long as the store has a web site, you can go online and shop until you drop. Although I have mentioned all of the great things about shopping online, there is always some bad with the good. The one thing that myself and I imagine anyone would dislike about online shopping is receiving a garment that does not fit. This is one of the most common negatives to online shopping. It can truly be a burden when you have plans for the outfit and have no time to return it for the right size.Just to add a positive spin to that idea, you could always return something that you purchased online at a retail store for convenience.Another downside to online shopping would be the shipping and processing/handling fee that you have to pay in addition to the cost of the garment (assuming there is not web special going on at that particular time). That can be an issue when you are on a budget or just did not expect to pay an additional fee for that particular outfit. The last and final negative to online shopping that I could come up with is the fact that it takes a matter or days for you to receive the things that you have paid for.In addition to that idea, if you want it delivered the next day or so, which will be more money that you will have to pay in order to receive it in a timely manner.
Shopping on a bargain is something I am sure everyone likes to do. While buying quality items is also at the top of the list, there are plenty of places where one could shop online and do both. The number one site where a person and shop for almost anything from the comfort of their own homes and do so on a bargain in Ebay. One could shop for clothes, shoes, furniture, cars, jewelry, phones, you name it Ebay sells it. On this particular site, you could narrow down your search buy shopping for brand new items, or even used items. This website also allows you to buy this straight from the manufacturer, or from another customer who has posted an item online to sell. Another great website to shop from on a bargain would be Craigslist. The great thing about Craigslist is that, the online shopper would just put in his or her state, followed by the city and buy things from sellers in familiar areas. This site is great because it also allows the shopper to look for employment opportunities online as well as social networking in his or her area. Ebay and Craigslist are just two of the many sites that online shoppers can shop on a bargain and find almost anything they would need.
Melissa Worthington's feedback for Jennifer Henderson's 3.1INF:
What is the thesis? Type out the thesis you find in the paper in your own words; it will help you see whether the writer's main insight is made sufficiently clear.
Online shopping can be an easier and more affordable way to shop.
How is the essay organized? Describe in three or four sentences how the essay is organized. This will help you determine if the structure was clear.
This essay began with an introduction then described pros and cons of online shopping. I couldn't exactly find an appropriate conclusion to the essay.
Was the organization logical? Was this the best way the writer could present their information?
The organization was logical. She first introduced what shopping online was all about, displaying some positives, then showing some negatives.
Were any parts not relevant to the thesis? As a reader did you pause to wonder how a statement or paragraph was related to the thesis?
No, I think every topic related to the thesis.
What examples and types of evidence were most convincing? Did the essay engage your emotions and appeal to your experiences in appropriate ways?
I liked how the writer started off with saying how she is a college student and relating that to why she shops online. I was engaged in the essay because I could relate to the topic.
What two places could use more development? Which places in the text need more evidence, examples, explanation.
The writer needs to develop a conclusion. The essay ends with talking about two sites to shop online, but does not sum up the point of the essay. Try to reiterate why online shopping is a good thing. Also, when the negatives of online shopping are discussed, what about the issue of security online? I would address that as a con.
Did the introduction catch your attention? The writer was probably writing about a topic that already interests them, so did they communicate that interest to you?
The introduction did catch my attention with the questions she asked in the first paragraph. Then, she went on to say why online shopping interests her. She did communicate her interest to me.

Online shopping became a habit of mine once I became a college student, and not because college students are lazy but because my school’s location does not offer a significant amount of good quality stores. The last and final negative to online shopping that I could come up with is the fact that it takes a matter or days for you to receive the things that you have paid for. In addition to that idea, if you want it delivered the next day or so, which will be more money that you will have to pay in order to receive it in a timely manner.
